I got a call from a number that left no message, so I called it back to find out what it was about. It turned out to be someone from udig, who was either a recruiter or the business development manager since communications showed both titles. He was filling in for the main contact who was in Las Vegas on a company award trip. Anyway, it was for a 4-month local gig with an urgent client timeline, so I met the guy for coffee.

First, I chatted with an internal recruiter about my career goals and how they might fit with UDig. Then, I had a 30-minute call with the Director of Engineering. We talked about my previous work and projects, plus why I'm interested in UDig and what opportunities are there. After that, I went onsite for a panel interview with the CEO and some directors. It was pretty relaxed, mostly talking about things on my resume, and seemed mostly about seeing if I'd be a good culture fit. They gave me feedback the next day that they wanted to hire me. Even though I didn't take the job, UDig seems like a great place to work with a promising future.

I had a really great experience with the recruiter, Ally, at UDig. She was super responsive, followed up well, and did what she said she would do. I just finished a call with her and won't be moving forward, but I really appreciate her and the hiring manager being upfront about it. I'd recommend checking out UDig. The hiring director was professional and nice too, asked good questions, and seemed genuinely interested in finding the right person. Even though I didn't get the job, I respect their process.

It was a pretty easy technical interview, only 30 minutes. I got tripped up on a question in an unexpected field, and the interview wasn't long enough to recover. I'm not sure if there were more interviews planned.
