So I talked to the hiring manager first, it was a chill chat with a few easy technical questions about React and Next.js. Then, we were supposed to do a leet code style coding session, and after that, a live React coding interview. But, surprise, they skipped the leet code part and went straight to the React thing. That kind of caught me off guard. The React task involved loading and showing data, plus adding some user interaction using React.

I got an initial response from the recruiter while I was traveling abroad. I picked a time for the screening call, but then the recruiter emailed me saying the job was only for U.S. candidates. She thought I wasn't in the U.S. because of my time zone and canceled the interview. When I told her I was just traveling and would be back in the U.S. the next day, she lost interest and never rescheduled. She also ignored all my follow-ups. I don't know how the mix-up happened, but someone who schedules a lot of interviews should know that different time zones don't always mean people live abroad. Dealing with people like that is a complete waste of time.
