Admin Assistant
The interview process was super professional and the interviewer was really nice. No pressure at all, and it started right on time. Everything was done over Zoom, not in person.
- Can you discuss your strengths?
- What about your weaknesses?
- Describe your organizational skills.
Administrative Assistant
The interview process began with a pre-recorded video interview that had some easy, generic questions. Following that, there were tests covering administrative assistant skills, Word, Excel, and Outlook. Then, a Zoom interview took place. The questions in this part weren't hard, but the interviewer was really robotic and offered no feedback, just delivered information in a flat, expressionless way, which made the experience unpleasant and reduced my interest in the job. Next, they asked for references. I found this annoying because they hadn't indicated I was a finalist or even seriously considered for the role. They had very specific requirements for references, insisting on work domain email addresses, and when I could only provide a Gmail for an overseas contact, they demanded a lengthy explanation for using a 'personal' email. They then requested a LinkedIn profile, which not everyone actively uses, and again, asked for justifications if one wasn't available. This whole thing dragged on for two months, which was lengthy for a temporary placement, almost as long as the job itself would have been. I got fed up and withdrew my application myself, as the process was a major turn-off and I'm unlikely to apply for UBC positions again.
- Walk me through your experience as an admin assistant.
- What were your day-to-day responsibilities in your previous admin assistant jobs?
- Could you provide more details about items on your CV?
Administrative Assistant
I had to fill out an online application and make an account. Then there was a video interview, a questionnaire, a Microsoft Suite test, and a typing test. Finally, I had an in-person interview. The job description and salary weren't consistent.
- How do you handle changes?
