Recruiter, Allyson, set up an interview with the Dean of the HCI area. The Dean disconnected mid-interview and didn't respond to emails. This was unprofessional and strange. It wasn't a technical issue; she just disconnected. This says a lot about their management.

First, there was an HR screening. Then, I met with the Hiring Manager and some of the team. The interview was virtual and conducted over Teams. It included a DISC test and a behavior survey. The interview focused on my behavior and teaching experience. They also discussed the company culture and the platform used for teaching.

Behavioral Other

The interview process was quite lengthy. It began with a one-page DISC assessment, and the entire meeting, including the interview, lasted about an hour. The interviewer was notably rude, frequently interrupting and speaking with a strong tone, making it difficult to provide complete answers. There was a sense that the school might not be welcoming to certain individuals, as the interviewer asked for information that could reveal ethnicity and background. It was observed that there were no visibly non-white staff or students on campus. The interviewer did not review my paperwork, suggesting a pre-determined negative decision. Although I was told I'd be contacted the following week, I received an immediate rejection letter upon leaving, followed by a reminder rejection a week later.

The recruiter was super fast in scheduling my interview for the next day after I applied. But, I'm not sure what went wrong in the 2-hour interview because they decided not to move me forward to meet with the Provost and Owner. I was pretty disappointed because I thought I nailed it and gave it my best shot. Since I'm all about improving, I asked the recruiter for some feedback on what I could have done differently to get a second interview, but I never heard back. The office itself is really neat, with a huge touchscreen tablet, and I enjoyed seeing all the cool student tech projects.
