The interview process was pretty chill. I talked with people from the department, and they asked me about teamwork, keeping things confidential, and how I'd handle my lab duties. They went over the job, what they expect, and the training. I also got to ask them some questions at the end.

My interview was online and I spoke with two people who represented different shifts. I've heard from people I know that their online interviews had more people. Both interviewers were nice and seemed interested in why I wanted the job. Something to think about is that some interviewers are looking for people but don't have openings right now. I don't think it would be weird to ask about that. They seemed happy to answer questions from me too.

Behavioral Presentation

The interview was done online over video. It was me and about 5-6 people from the department I was applying to. It was pretty conversational and informal. They kept talking about how they all took pay cuts to work in this program and how it was worth it for the life/work balance. The pay wasn't clear until the second interview, which was in person at the facility and felt more like a tour. I was shocked by how low the salary was, given I have a master's degree and it wouldn't even cover my bills. I didn't expect to get rich in social work, but this was surprisingly low for a place like UAB.

Behavioral Group

The interview started with a panel interview that went well. After that, I shadowed for half a day, which I also thought went well. Unfortunately, I didn't get the offer. My main issue, though, is that no one ever contacted me to let me know I didn't get the job. I received a phone call from a department I didn't even apply to, and it wasn't even the schedule I wanted (I had applied for the shift that worked for me). They 'invited me to apply to this position.' I politely declined, saying I can only work the specific shift for the job I actually applied for. The next day, I got an email saying I didn't get the job. It left a bad taste in my mouth. HR needs to improve their communication.
