There wasn't much of an interview before Orientation, which was fine since I just got my CDL A and needed a company that would take a new CDL A holder. I applied through DriverPulse and the recruiter called back quickly. She had two openings and basically signed me up for orientation the next week. I arrived Monday and was surprised by the amount of training on the first day. I also spent time filling out paperwork and explaining my job history more. Plus drug testing and a new DOT physical (even though I just had one a month ago, they wanted a fresh one). Tuesday was more training, videos, simulator time, and meeting other people at the terminal. Wednesday was the day I was anxious about, wondering if I was getting hired. Once everything checked out, I was welcomed and told to go home and wait for a trainer. There were 8 drivers at orientation. 2 left by day two, and 1 wasn't hired because she didn't mention rolling a semi a few years back. Overall, I was really happy with how thorough the orientation and screening was. I also suggest taking notes during the whole process, writing down questions to ask, and when they ask if you have questions, use your notes. Also, talk to the other drivers going through the process.

I interviewed with two managers. They were really nice and made me feel at ease. They asked me a bunch of questions about my past jobs and a couple about my family and hobbies. They also told me a lot about the job and what they expect.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

Went through a phone screening with the recruiter, then interviewed with the hiring manager. The final stage was a panel interview where I had to give a 30-60-90 day plan presentation. The whole process took about 3 weeks. They extended an offer, but it was a lowball compared to what the recruiter initially stated as the range, and they didn't negotiate in good faith.

Confirmed questions3 questions
  • Standard questions were asked during the initial recruiter phone screening.
  • Hypothetical questions specific to the job were posed during the later stages.
  • A presentation outlining a 30-60-90 day plan was expected.

The hiring process was quick and easy. The recruiter was nice and friendly. There were 3 interviewers who seemed nice and asked a few questions and concerns. It felt like a comfortable experience overall, though they presented themselves a bit differently than they are on the job site.
