We had a phone call with senior management, then a 2nd follow up interview. It was more conversational than stressful, and easy to talk to. If applicable, there was an in-person interview. Be ready to discuss your optical knowledge and customer service experience.

I met with the manager for the department. She was pretty talkative and kept stressing how she was a straight shooter and kept asking me about my excel skills. Their systems are pretty old and they use excel to do their reporting, so my guess and from the sounds of it its a very time consuming position. They needed someone to look at their budget files and update them to reflect how they want to show the each business unit and reflect accurate numbers instead of spreading the assumptions across all units.

I was waiting to pick up a pair of eyeglasses I bought, and I got to talking with another customer and her husband who were also waiting. I ended up selling both of them a pair of eyeglasses by helping them pick out styles and colors. The manager saw this and asked me if I was looking for a job, which I was at the time, especially for a better one. She gave me an application, I filled it out, and then took a drug test. After that, I had another interview, but the pay was less than I was making at a non-profit, so I turned it down. A few days later, she called back and offered more money, so I accepted. I really liked the store manager; we had a good connection and she was professional and personable. The store itself was amazing, and I was blown away by the number of frames and the selection. I love sales and interacting with people. I'd tell others to really commit to sales if that's their thing...it's definitely not for everyone!

Behavioral Technical Presentation

I met with two senior managers, and then the production director joined us. The interview went well initially, but the production director had to leave before it finished. We discussed common operating processes and continuous improvements related to regulatory requirements impacting operations. However, their focus seemed quite narrow. At the end of the interview, I was surprisingly escorted out a side door on the second level, which led to unkempt stairs and dropped me off in an overgrown, weedy area behind the facility. It was a very strange way to conclude the interview. I followed up afterwards but never heard back. In summary, the interview approach felt unprofessional, especially for a company seeking talent. I had checked Glassdoor before the interview and saw employee comments reflecting a cultural issue, and this interview process seemed to confirm those comments.

  • Discuss continuous improvements for regulatory requirements impacting operations.
  • Explain your perspective on our company's specific focus.
