It was one interview, about an hour long, with 4 GAO employees from different teams. They had a list of questions, about 3-4 per person, covering basic behavioral and experience aspects. It was pretty straightforward.

I applied for the internship via my program's career services director. About a month later, I got a call to schedule an interview (GAO was running behind because of budget issues). I had a 1-hour phone interview with two people from offices not in DC. The questions were about GAO's main competencies like communication and analytic skills. They usually asked me to talk about a time I showed those skills. They also asked how I'd plan and conduct a study and how I'd prep a speech. The interviewers were nice and friendly, and asked follow-up questions. About 3-5 days after, I got an email offering me the job.
