Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at U.S. Department of Agriculture.
IT Specialist
It was a one hour phone interview. The interviewers took turns reading out the questions. Most of the questions were your traditional behavioral questions. There were a few cloud provider (AWS, Azure) questions but nothing overly technical. I tried reaching out to the manager who scheduled the interview a few weeks after but did not receive any response.
- Tell me about your experience with databases and the LAMP stack.
- Do you have experience with cloud providers like AWS or Azure?
IT Specialist
The process was a standard BEI interview. An admin assistant set up the meeting, allocating a full hour for it. I met with three panel members. They were vague about the specific job, not detailing which of the several potential roles I might be considered for.
- Can you describe a significant challenge you encountered in a previous role?
- How do you manage your professional relationships with colleagues?
- What is your greatest strength and your biggest weakness?
IT Specialist
The interview process was straightforward. It began with basic personality and hypothetical questions. It wasn't technical since it's an entry-level internship and they plan to train on the job. It was a phone interview and by the end of the call, I was offered the job. Pretty much if they call, they intend on hiring.
- What is your greatest accomplishment?
