First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at U.S. Army Healthcare.
Medical Technician
So the interview was with a group of 5 people, like two military folks, the Director of the Facility, a Senior Supervisor, and the Recruiting Director from HR. They each hit me with two questions, covering strengths, weaknesses, past experiences, problem-solving skills, how I handle changes, quality improvement stuff, and working with all sorts of people.
- Can you tell me about your experience in a setting where you had to juggle many different tasks daily, like documenting patient information in a database, helping with exams, running tests like audiograms and EKGs, giving shots, doing eye exams, and taking vital signs and measurements?
IT Specialist
You have an interview with 3 people who are supposed to be neutral and have IT experience, but really only one is interviewing you and they don't know anything about IT. You could tell them anything and they would believe it. Since most jobs are hired internally, the interviews are just a formality.
- What is your motivation for seeking employment here?
- Could you explain the procedure for pinging a network system?
- Describe your course of action if a system becomes infected with a virus.
Pathology Clerk
Talked with the site supervisors. They wanted to know if I had experience with DoD healthcare software and the culture, like the customs and courtesies I would have to deal with every day. They also stressed customer service and handling a lot of patients.
- Do you know CHCS, AHLTA, or Essentris, which are DoD healthcare software systems essential for delivery?
- How difficult do you find it to learn new software applications?
Combat Medic
They went over my ASVAB scores and individual scores. Checked my physical fitness and any potential legal issues. Had a comprehensive medical exam. Discussed different career fields and my long-term goals. Also went over educational benefits.
- What career field interests you?
