First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Tyler Technologies.
Intern
I had a call with HR first. After that, there was a teams meeting with the hiring manager and two people from the security team. I think it went pretty well, but they ended up picking someone else. I'm just not sure why it wasn't me or what I could have done better. It was a good opportunity though, and everyone was really nice.
- Why are you interested in Tyler?
- Can you explain defense in depth?
- What does least privilege mean?
Intern
I applied online and heard back from a recruiter. I was really excited at first but it turned out to be a horrible experience. They canceled my final interview 2 hours before I was supposed to have it. They said they decided to close the position due to COVID. But when I checked LinkedIn I saw that someone else had been given that exact position at the exact location and I had been told only one person would be hired for the role. I was disappointed by the lack of honesty and transparency. Not sure why they didn’t just tell the truth.
- Could you explain your interest in Tyler Technology?
Intern
I connected with them at my school's career fair and they set up a 4 hour interview slot for me. It was a group interview with about 10 other students and myself. We were given a 4-page test covering object-oriented programming basics and some SQL questions, but no coding was involved in the test itself. After the test, I had a one-on-one chat with a recruiter. We did some whiteboard problems where I had to write code, and we discussed our expectations. The interview was pretty relaxed, though the questions were a bit tough.
- Could you please write a SQL command to create a new table named "Teaching Staff", ensuring the ID field serves as the primary key, and that it includes the fields ID, LastName, and FirstName?
