First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Twin Cities PBS.
Producer
Had a first phone interview, then a five person interview. It took them 2 weeks to get back to me, and then I accepted the position. They asked about my former experience in television and films - the people during the interview were friendly.
- Can you share your previous experience in documentaries?
Director
I had a phone interview with HR, then a 3-part in-person interview with the hiring manager and two other people. They were supposed to pay for my parking but never did. Each interview was only 30 minutes, which wasn't enough time. I sent an email and a handwritten note with an article to the hiring manager, but received no response. I had to follow up two weeks later to get an update, at which point HR called to let me know I wasn't selected. A month later, I got an unnecessary automated email saying the position was filled, but then I saw it reposted. When I inquired about it, I found out the person they offered it to had declined. They suggested I reapply, which I declined because they already had my information. Overall, their HR practices seemed unprofessional.
- Can you share an instance of a time when...
Intern
It was a one-on-one. We talked about my background and what I've done before. Pretty much went through my resume, and then they told me about the job and the company's past and values. I got to ask questions about the role and the company's future plans.
- How does your major apply to this position?
Digital Media Coordinator
Had 3 separate interviews for this role, it moved pretty fast and they kept me in the loop about the process. It was weird though, the 3 people I met with described really different jobs.
- Can you describe your organizational skills?
