Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Twilio.
Analyst
It was a five-stage interview process, starting with HR screening, then moving on to meet the line manager and stakeholders, and finally a bar raiser. While it took a little while, the whole experience was very positive and professional. The HR team was particularly helpful, even offering advice for the interviews.
- Tell me about how you handle various workplace scenarios.
Integration Analyst
I had a phone screen with a recruiter and then an interview with the hiring manager. The whole thing took about two weeks. The hiring manager talked about how he often took over Xactly tasks himself. I asked if he had any worries about me being able to do the job, and he said no, he actually complimented my skills with the product, saying they're rare and I should be proud. After that, the recruiter took a week to get back to me and said they went with other candidates but wanted to stay in touch. I asked for feedback on what to improve for future roles, but then heard nothing back. I put a lot of effort into preparing, and felt like my time was wasted, maybe I was just a diversity hire.
- What are your strongest and weakest qualities?
Programme Analyst
The HR team's interview coordination was very poor. They sent an email invitation for a phone interview and asked for my availability. After I submitted it, the HR person emailed me a day later saying the interview was scheduled for a time I did not submit. It felt like my schedule didn't matter at all. While it's fine for them to expect candidates to fit their schedule, they should discuss it with candidates and explain clearly. The communication style matters, especially when they ask for availability only to ignore it. I was very disappointed in how the HR team handled things, so I decided not to continue my application. It's a shame because Twilio seems like a promising company. I hope this was an isolated incident.
- What is your availability?
