Account Executive
Basically, save yourself the trouble and don't even bother applying to Twilio Segment for any sales positions. This has been hands-down one of the most unprofessional interview processes I've been through in my entire tech sales career. To start, the recruiter sent me an automated rejection email immediately after I applied, claiming we'd already spoken, which we hadn't. I had to reach out to Twilio leadership directly to even get an interview scheduled. Then, during the actual interview call, the recruiter sounded like she was barely awake or possibly still drunk, just reading questions in a monotone from a sheet of paper. She couldn't provide much detail about the role itself when I asked typical questions about quota and team structure. A few days later, I received the exact same automated rejection email. If this is indicative of Twilio's recruiting quality, I can only imagine what it's like working there.

Sales Executive
It was a 7 round interview process that moved really fast. The final stage was a mock discovery call, but I didn't get selected. They expected a pitch deck, but it wasn't mandatory so I skipped it. Honestly, for a discovery call, a sales rep might or might not use a deck; if they really wanted one, they should've made it a requirement. I feel their interview process could've been improved there. Aside from that, the interviewers were all super friendly and professional. The lead recruiter was very helpful. I interviewed for the role in APAC.

Account Executive
It was a really structured process, maybe too much so, I don't think I needed to talk to three recruiters just to set up an interview. You have to be ready to answer a lot of questions about why you're the right fit, why you're interested now, what you know about the tech, and how you'd pitch it. These answers really need to follow the STAR method. It felt like I had to get every answer exactly right because they were very direct. I had a 3-hour interview and then had to pitch the product in the last 15 minutes, which is fine, but I was pretty tired by then. The main thing that bothered me was that the hiring manager was my first interview and it went great (I thought), and at the end, we were chatting and realized we went to the same school, and he said, "you're hired!" My main takeaway is that they shouldn't ask such pointed questions and act like they're super selective if they're going to say something like that. It was unprofessional, especially since the recruiter later called to say I didn't get the job. Interviews are hard, and we should respect people who take time out of their day to learn about your company and show their interest. Also, asking "Why You?" shouldn't really impact someone's ability to do the job. Maybe asking more about their daily tasks or how they'd approach things would give a better sense of the kind of salesperson they are.
