We had a group interview. First, we were asked some questions and had time to write down our answers before sharing them with the room. Then, we did a group presentation on a topic we were given. Finally, I had a 1:1 interview with different people from the departments.

I was first contacted by a recruiter who wanted to talk about the job, my salary needs, and my current situation. I gave them my salary, what I expected as an increase, and my benefits, and they said it was okay. Then, I had a Teams interview. We had a casual chat about my experience and how I approach work, and they asked some structured questions to check my business knowledge and see if my methods matched their expectations. The team seemed good and knowledgeable, asking relevant questions. We talked about salary again, and they agreed my expectations were reasonable. Next, I had to do an assessment: write a 1-page capability statement using their online info and a brief they gave me, pretending it was for a customer. I had 24 hours, which was tight because it was right before Christmas, but I managed it. I got good feedback and had a second interview. After that, the recruitment manager offered me the job. However, the offer was less than my current pay (salary + car allowance). When I brought up the salary I'd discussed initially, the manager asked for my payslip. He suggested that even with a lower annual salary, it might still be better for me and he'd look into it. I sent him my earnings breakdown and explained their offer would leave me £200 short. I also mentioned other offers I had and my career path if I stayed at my current company. I asked for an offer matching the figures we agreed on initially and during the first interview. They said that figure wasn't in their budget, which was surprising given it's the average for this role and I had 5 years of experience. It's a shame that the recruiter and the interview team confirmed my salary expectations were achievable, and then asked me to do a written assessment when they knew it was outside their budget. It feels like a waste of my time.
