First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at TV One.
Ad Sales Assistant
It was really tough, 4 rounds. The process wasn't great, maybe because they were short-staffed. It wasn't ideal, and communication seemed off. I was only interviewing but felt like I had to manage the communication.
- How do you handle pressure when juggling multiple projects?
Marketing
Getting to the office is a bit of a trek, about a 20-25 minute walk from the train station, so give yourself extra time if it's your first visit. It was fine talking to the marketing director, but I ended up waiting almost 2 hours to see another manager, which I thought was pretty disrespectful. They asked some standard questions, like about my weaknesses and my thoughts on working overtime. I'd recommend just being yourself, especially since they really value employees who are willing to put in extra hours, which I found out later.
- What are your thoughts on working overtime?
Producer
I applied in Oct 2017 and heard back from HR in Dec 2017 for an on-the-spot phone screen. Then, I had a phone interview. After that, I was asked to prepare a presentation for my in-person interview. I made my presentation twice and did two interviews in person: one with the digital and social team, and another with the SVP. I waited two weeks due to the holidays and then followed up. I was asked to follow up again in a week, and then found out I didn't get the position.
- What changes would you suggest for our social media platforms?
Director
The process started with some talk about work and showing my sample work. Then, I had to do a task that they watched closely. After I did the task well, they gave me a rating, and then I had a final interview. Finally, they confirmed my job.
- In terms of managing priorities at work, how do you approach that?
- Could you present your sample work?
- Tell me about how you tackled the assigned task.
