First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Turning Point Community Programs.
Housing Instructor
I was contacted by the manager of my program and went to their office, which is in a residential setting. When I got there, I went to the office, which is located in one of the units. The manager greeted me and let me know they were busy with a client and would be a few minutes. I sat and waited, chatting with a client, and then after a few minutes, the interview started. They asked me about my experience with the mental health community and what kind of therapeutic style I believe in. It was a very straightforward interview. The process included a recruiter call and an onsite interview, and then a background check.
- Could you describe the symptoms associated with Bi-Polar disorder?
Administrative Role
I interviewed with a panel of 3 managers. It was a really comfortable and friendly vibe. The questions they asked were super easy and standard. They touched on handling office emergencies or issues with angry families and also asked about working with low income culturally diverse families. They also asked about my strengths and weaknesses. Overall, it was a fine experience.
- How would you handle a lobby altercation?
- How would you handle office emergencies or issues with angry families?
- Do you have any problems with working around low income culturally diverse families?
Intern
I spoke with 2 people from the program. They read off questions from a paper, about a page and a half worth. The questions were different from the usual general interview questions companies put out. They seemed more focused on checking my knowledge and values.
- Can you explain what co-occurring diagnosis means?
- What are the signs and symptoms associated with depression and schizophrenia?
- How do you understand psychotropic medications?
Family Advocate
I had a Zoom interview with the program manager and the family engagement coordinator. There were 14 questions asked, and the interview lasted for about an hour. They were really respectful and kind throughout.
- Can you explain what strengths-based means to you?
