The interview process wasn't too complicated, but it did take a fair bit of time - consisting of one screening and two interviews, taking about 2 hours total. The interviewers were good and offered clarity on technical questions. There seemed to be some miscommunication about role requirements, though it wasn't the developer's fault, it just appeared to be delayed communication within the larger organization.

Got a call from HR for a first phone interview, but she wasn't clear on the job description. She mentioned the company might split the role into junior and senior, but it seemed like she didn't really know. I figured this out after talking to four different people during the onsite interview. HR said I'd have an onsite interview and her secretary would call with details later that day or the next. I waited, but no call, so I had to remind HR the next afternoon. It seemed like the secretary forgot to schedule it, which was a bummer. HR finally emailed interview times around 5 pm; I doubt I'd have gotten it if I hadn't followed up. Anyway, I showed up on time and was taken to a conference room to meet HR first. She didn't show, so I waited 30 minutes alone before someone else showed up, who wasn't even supposed to be there. The technical folks I spoke with were cool, but they never asked direct technical questions. Mostly, they asked about how I approach problems, and I didn't get how they could assess my technical skills that way. Plus, the HR people didn't give a good impression; I wouldn't even consider their offer if they made one.

I was connected to Turbine by a recruiter, who then put me in touch with HR. HR then set me up for an initial phone interview with the design director of the team. After that conversation, I was asked to complete their design application. Following that, I was flown out for an in-person interview with the team, meeting with them in groups of 1-3 people at a time. It was great getting to meet everyone and learn about the people and company I might be working with.

I had a phone call first with Turbine's head of email marketing. We had a nice chat and he told me a lot about the job. Then, I worked with an HR person to set up an in-person interview. I went in about a week later. Turbine is a pretty chill place, I felt good there. I met with three individual people and then two groups of two. They were all nice and helpful, and we talked about a bunch of different stuff.
