First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at TuneIn.
Product Manager
I chatted with HR, the hiring manager, and three other team folks. It was a good experience overall. Everyone was punctual, engaged, and nice. They mainly asked about my background and explained their job's connection to this role.
- Can you share your experiences working remotely in the past?
Technical Sourcer
Phone screen first, then onsite. They were nice on the phone and asked basic questions. They were quick to schedule an onsite, but then had to reschedule the day of. This was frustrating because I was working full-time and it was hard to coordinate my schedule and give my work proper notice of my absence that day. The onsite was more technical. I met the team and it seemed like a fun place to work. After the interview, I didn't hear back by the next week, so I emailed the recruiter to check in, but she still never replied. I get that recruiters are busy, but it's disrespectful to not let someone know they were rejected, especially after I took the time to come in, accommodated their scheduling error, and spoke with them multiple times. A simple email would do, it's just a basic part of the process.
- How do you manage your organization and prioritization?
- Can you describe your recruiting process?
- What makes you want to work for TuneIn?
Support Associate
A recruiter will reach out first and schedule a phone interview with the head of support. They'll ask about your availability to set up the call. The phone interview usually goes well; they aim to make you feel comfortable and are friendly and passionate about TuneIn. They're mainly interested in learning about your past work experience and your personality. Being qualified is important, but they also want to ensure your personality fits well with the team since you'll be collaborating with others and good team chemistry is valued. Since this is a customer support role, how you interact with people is key.
- What sparked your interest in this role?
- Could you share some details about your educational history?
- Can you describe a time you handled an unhappy customer and successfully resolved their issue?
Strategy and Operations Manager
Applied online and then had a recruiter screen. Next, I interviewed with the Hiring Manager, which included both behavioral questions and a mini-case study. After that, there was a take-home assessment. Then, I got ghosted. I'm assuming TuneIn was serious about me and just hired someone else before I finished the take-home, but it's pretty bad they ghosted a candidate after they spent several unpaid hours on the assessment.
