TSMC Manufacturing Engineer Interview Questions

First, HR will call you to ask some basic questions about how well you know the semiconductor industry. They'll probably ask about semiconductor manufacturing steps and the company's past. During this first part, feel free to share your thoughts on TSMC's recent investments and industry trends. Second, assistant managers from the department you're potentially joining will set up a formal meeting. They won't dive deep into technical details, but they will want to see what you know and will mention that it's a demanding role. They might bring up work-life balance, and you'll really get a sense of it once you're working in the factory. The last step is with another HR specialist who will do a final background check to make sure all your application details are accurate. If you pass all these stages, you've likely secured the job and will probably get an offer.

The interview process took about 2-3 weeks. I really liked the company and its mission, but I ended up declining the offer because I didn't feel comfortable with the hiring team. Each interview lasted an hour and had at least 4 people on Teams. The final interview had 5 people, and none of the engineers I spoke with had their cameras on except for me and the hiring manager at the very end. It was hard to know the team I'd be joining, which is important, especially since they wanted me to relocate.

Applied through their job portal early Feb, heard back for 1st interview early April. 1st round was with 1 senior engineer - behavioural, given situations and asked how you would tackle them; encouraged to ask a lot of questions; very upfront with potential long hours and stress -- lasted about 1 hour. 2nd interview was with 2 engineers and 1 manager, a week after 1st interview; asked a lot more details of experiences and qualifications in resume; asked to give examples of situations in STAR format -- lasted about 1 hour. Offer was through a phone call 2 weeks later.
