First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at TSI Semiconductors.
Process Engineer
Had about 4-5 one-on-one chats with engineers and engineering managers. The interviews were a mix of general and technical questions. The whole on-site thing lasted around 4-5 hours. I got an offer in under a week. When they gave me the offer, HR said I had less than a week to decide, though I probably could have asked for more time.
- Can you tell me the three modes of heat transfer?
Associate Product Engineer
This was a very technical and long interview, so be ready for that. Make sure you know your core knowledge and experiences well. You need to be able to back up your answers, like explaining why you like certain classes. The interview started in a relaxed way, but the interviewers got progressively higher up in the company. By the end, you'll be exhausted.
- Can you sketch the stress and strain plot?
Production Technician
After an initial call, I met with HR. They wanted to learn about me, so we chatted about my hobbies outside of work. Then, I had a meeting with the head of line maintenance. He gave me a mechanical aptitude test where I had to disassemble and reassemble something using hand tools. For an electronics technician role, they'd test electronics skills, possibly including circuit identification and component analysis. A good understanding of pumps, turbos, and vacuum is also expected.
- How would you approach troubleshooting an unknown issue with a device?
Senior Engineer
The interview and hiring decisions takes too long. The process includes a phone screen, initial interview, panel interview, and background check. It takes almost a year to complete the hiring process. If you don't have a job while you're in the interview process, you might be hungry before you get the job.
- Do you know any wafer processes?
