I had a really bad experience. I was ghosted after two interviews and never heard back, even after I followed up. It was unprofessional and made me wonder about the work environment there. The interviewer also accused me of using AI to create my resume. With 25 years in the industry, I found that accusation ridiculous. It seems they've had issues with AI-generated resumes and are now overly suspicious, accusing legitimate candidates of fraud. While other companies might face this, this place handled it very unprofessionally.

Had a standard initial 30 minute phone screen, which was the first interview. They said I'd be contacted the next business day to schedule another interview. I wasn't contacted for over a month and then got the standard rejection email.

Behavioral Case Behavioral

The interview process had about 4 or 5 stages. I first spoke with the People Operations Manager, then the Attorney Operations Manager. After that, I completed a case study. The final step involved two virtual panel interviews, each with two interviewers. The interactions were quite friendly, and I felt a good connection, but ultimately they selected another candidate. I received an email about 1.5 weeks after my last interview informing me I wasn't chosen. All the interviews felt pretty relaxed.

Technical Coding Behavioral

I first talked to a recruiter, who then set up a meeting with the hiring manager. The hiring manager interview started okay, but quickly went south. When I mentioned I was learning Typescript but not an expert, he acted like I had no experience. He then treated it like a technical interview and explained the problem. When I pointed out this wasn't what I was told, he implied I missed an email. To be proactive, I agreed to do the technical part. Because I'm neuro-divergent, I need time to fully grasp problems and existing code before writing anything. This wasn't fast enough for him, so he asked me to pseudocode. I started writing comments for my logic and accidentally missed that one type property was defined as Map instead of an array. He asked what a hashmap was, I explained it, and mentioned PHP arrays are partly implemented as hashmaps. He dismissed my example and said I shouldn't use PHP arrays to explain hashmaps. He also seemed to think I should explicitly use Maps, Sets, or Queues from the Ds module. In retrospect, the interview was over for him then. It's disheartening to be dismissed early based on a misunderstanding of my skills and how I work as a software engineer.

  • Can you write code that passes all the given unit tests?
