First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Trulia.
Product Manager
I submitted my application and cover letter online. About a week later, I got contacted to set up an initial phone screen. After that, an ex-MBA Product Intern did a one-on-one phone interview with me, covering both general stuff and tech-specific skills. Lastly, I had an in-person interview at the San Francisco office with five people from the Product, Data & Analytics, and Engineering teams.
- Could you propose a new feature for a technology or application and detail the steps involved in its planning, implementation, and launch?
Product Manager
I had an offer already, so they flew me out to SF after the phone screen with the hiring manager. I met with 6 engineers and product people. Some didn't read my resume and asked the typical 'tell me about yourself' questions. Two interviewers had marked up my resume and asked me design questions, questions about the competition, and about the real estate market. These were engaging conversations. I'd spoken to the hiring manager twice already, so our talk was more about fit than work. I was sure I'd get an offer, but I didn't.
- Could you introduce yourself?
- Could you elaborate on your resume?
- Can you share your thoughts on design?
Product Management Director
It was a full-day interview at the office in downtown San Francisco. I had individual meetings with different people from the product development team. I also gave a 60-minute presentation to the product development team. Then, I had a lunch meeting with the hiring manager. Pretty typical for a director-level job. Everyone I met was really nice and easy to talk to.
- Could you identify the main challenges users face when searching for homes on Trulia's website and mobile app?
