Had an HR call, then a call with the Hiring Manager followed by an assignment. Two weeks later, I had another call to discuss the assignment. I got a generic rejection afterward with no explanation. I'm not disappointed about the job since it sounded boring, but after I wasted so much time at least give honest feedback.

The HR person seemed to have trouble keeping track of me and my progress. The first interview was straightforward, the second one went okay, and then after sending a thank you email, I didn't hear back. About 1.5 weeks later, I followed up and was informed they decided to go with another candidate. Honestly, the HR person's disorganization made me doubt their overall candidate tracking system.

I was pretty excited about the TrueWork product and the company’s future. After working for a much more established Fintech company for the past several years, I was eager to sink my teeth into something new and exciting. It wasn’t until The second round when I met with the hiring manager that my outlook for the company unfortunately changed. The first interview was with a recruiter. This was a typical phone screen process and conducted in a professional manner. I was given background and able to ask questions regarding the role. The second interview was with the hiring manager. This was a bizarre interview to say the least. To start, the gap between my first interview and second was 2 weeks due to the hiring manager being unavailable. Fortunately, I’m not actively interviewing elsewhere so I didn’t take another job in the intervening time. Then, when the interview did happen, the interviewer showed up 5 minutes late and opened the interview with “we have 25 mins because I have a hard stop at XXX time”. If that wasn’t enough, the interviewer was dressed in a dirty hoodie, old baseball hat, and had an overall extremely unkempt appearance. I’m not typically someone to judge another person by their appearance, but I must say I felt very akward in my business casual attire while the interviewer was still wiping crust from his eyes. To add to the bizarreness of the interview, never once did the hiring manager give any background on the role, what he was hoping to accomplish with the hire, or any details about the company. Towards the end of the interview, I was rushed off camera and never even asked if I had any questions. I recorded the interview so I could watch it back, and I was even more flabbergasted upon review. In the past year in my current role I’ve interviewed over 100 prospective employees and hired over 20. Even in the worst interview, I’ve never been half as unprofessional this hiring manager. All in all, as a prospective candidate I felt like an afterthought to the Director of Sales. When I was removed from the interview process I was embaressed that someone with this type of business etiquette actually passed on me. In hindsight, it’s the best thing that could have happened because I can’t imagine what it would be like working for him. If Trueworks truly wants to recruit top talent in this ultra competive landscape of SaaS sales, they have a long way to go. To start, perhaps show the hiring manager proper interview procedures and protocols.

The interview experience at Truework was fantastic; it felt very welcoming, unlike other big companies or startups I've interviewed with. They even wrote a personalized note on a whiteboard and introduced me to the entire team, who were all really friendly, giving it a familial vibe. There was a lot of positive feedback, and the office environment, location, and perks were impressive. The process moved very quickly. The recruiter was exceptionally kind, funny, smart, and attended Harvard.
