Copywriter
The whole application process was simply a mess. I had applied in November and didn't receive closure until February. Communication was limited to once every two weeks maybe and no progress was made and it didn't seem like much effort was given on the other side of things. I put in a lot of time to write some great copy for their test without any feedback for several weeks. When I eventually heard back, the job was unavailable and I was offered to apply for a freelance position. Upon listing my requested price, I was turned away without negotiation. It didn't appear that the company really put in an effort when it came to my job application, which makes me believe they don't put a lot of effort into the company itself.
- Write a few pieces of copy for specific products
Product Development Associate
The interview process started with a phone interview, then there was an online personality test, and finally 2 in-person interviews. The first in-person interview had 3 brand managers, and the second had 3 directors. Overall, the company seems to be growing quickly and offers good growth opportunities. The employees are quite young, often recent grads with limited experience outside this company, which raises some questions. While they give people with less experience a lot of responsibility, the pay isn't what you'd expect in the industry. Expect to work more than 60 hours a week when deadlines are near. The office vibe is super casual, with open spaces and dogs allowed. The directors seemed more focused on understanding how my current company operates rather than on getting to know me as a candidate.
- Can you describe a mistake you've made in a previous job?
- What actions would you take if you found yourself unable to meet a project deadline due to time constraints?
Graphic Designer
I was recommended by a friend who works there. The Design Manager got back to me right away and invited me for an interview. It was super fast, like 20 minutes max. They asked the typical stuff like strengths, weaknesses, ideal work environment, handling pressure, and my favorite project. They also showed me around the office and introduced me to the team I'd be working with. The manager was really nice, and it felt very chill and comfortable. I sent a thank-you email the next day and got an offer right away with a start date in under a week. The whole thing was quick, smooth, and professional.
- Can you tell me what your power animal is?
Marketing Assistant
I saw this job on craigslist and applied online, but then they had too many applicants so they invited us to a "meet and greet" where we could talk to managers and team members. After that, I was invited back for an interview with the marketing manager, and then again for another interview with the CEO.
- What do you see as the main challenges facing our current marketing strategy?
- Given your background in B2C, how would you contribute to our team, which has primarily B2B experience?
