Tronex International Interview Questions
& Process

It was a long but interesting interview process. I met with several department heads. The company is knowledgeable and experienced, with most of their sales to large hospital systems and groups. They also sell to large corporations in hospitality and San/Jan. All products are sourced or purchased in Asia. Unlike other companies with a business casual dress code, Tronex requires Business Professional attire (suits). The company is reluctant to embrace social network presence, and their website is outdated and not helpful.

The HR rep gave me a phone screen and said the team was very interested in meeting with me. I drove an hour to the office for the first interview. The HR rep seemed stressed trying to find people for me to talk to. I waited a while and met with the hiring manager and a product development team member. I was then told the other people I was supposed to meet were busy and I should come back the next week. I did. Upon my second visit, I was told the team was busy and I should come back at the end of the week. I was shocked but agreed. The following week, I met with the president and a senior member of the business development/accounting team. The president was nice, but the business development team member's discussion was very strange. She talked for 10 minutes about a Chinese proverb about a stream smoothing a pebble. I was confused but nodded along. I never heard back from HR. The HR person quit, and the team wasn't in a hurry to decide. I was disappointed. This position seems to always be open, not due to growth, but likely because employees leave every 2 years.

A recruiter reached out to me. Over four weeks, I interviewed with the recruiter, HR manager, company president, the VP I would report to, and the operations director. The interviews were mostly good, but the VP was quite skeptical about my experience and abilities, which was the only part that left me feeling frustrated. Two weeks after that, I was informed that someone with more experience got the job.

I got referred by a recruiter who sent over the job description and some company info. The interview was super professional and positive. The interviewer asked if I'd looked into the company beforehand, which I had.
