Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at trivago.
Content Manager
It was a pretty standard Skype interview. The person interviewing me introduced themselves briefly. Then we went over my resume and chatted about my past experiences. They asked some questions about trivago and how its business model works. The interviewer was really nice and made me feel comfortable right away, so don't stress too much if you're preparing for this.
- Can you explain trivago's revenue streams?
- If you had the chance, what specific improvements or changes would you propose for the website?
Content Writer
The whole process was really messy and disorganized. They kept switching up the interviewers, so I never knew who to even reach out to. Then, the interviewer was super late to the actual interview, like thirty minutes late. After all that, they wanted me to write and send them two completely new articles that they would then use. Like, seriously? You can't just ask for free content, especially when you're not planning on paying for it. And even after this whole ordeal, they said I'd hear back in about two weeks. Two weeks passed, no word. I followed up. Another two weeks went by. I followed up again each week after that. Finally, after a whole month, I got a super generic email back. For a company this big, they were incredibly disorganized and kept us candidates completely in the dark.
- Do you have any generic interview questions for me?
Content Manager
The hiring panel was informative and asked a good mix of questions across two interview rounds. The case study provided a clear picture of the job responsibilities.
- How would you provide feedback to coworkers and writers?
