So the interview process was pretty standard. It started with a phone screen, which was pretty quick. Then I had a virtual interview with the hiring manager. After that, I went on-site to meet with the team, my manager again, and some other leaders. It was more of a casual chat. Finally, I had a virtual call with HR to wrap things up.

The recruiter at TriState told me I was their top candidate early on and after the interviews, that they really liked my background and were willing to pay top dollar and arrange a hotel for me to come in on a Saturday for an on-site interview because I couldn't get time off during the week. They were also hiring for a reporting role that was a bit more junior, which I was also well-qualified for and applied to. After weeks of radio silence following my interviews and repeated assurances that I was still their number one choice, the recruiter called to reject me, claiming I wasn't qualified enough and that the junior reporting role was too senior for my pay grade. It's confusing, right? I saw the junior reporting role reposted on LinkedIn shortly after my rejection and let the recruiter know I was still interested. I figured if I was their favorite for a more senior role, I'd be perfect for this one. I was told my interest would be passed along to the hiring manager, but I haven't heard back in weeks, and the LinkedIn posting is gone again. After years of applying to thousands of jobs and going through dozens of interviews, I've never encountered such dishonest, disrespectful, and unprofessional behavior. I wouldn't trust anything they say. I'm just glad I found out now and don't have to work with them and their manipulative, self-serving tactics. Some of the interviewers on the panel seemed frustrated, which makes me think some people internally feel the same way. Avoid this place.

The interview process was pretty typical. I completed a phone screening and then was invited to interview in person about a week later. Overall, everyone I met was very nice and it seems like a great place to work. My only complaint would be the poor communication. If you’re going to take up several weeks of a candidate’s time, you at least owe them some feedback, save the generic denial letters for the first round.
- Can you discuss your current and past experience?
Manager
The process was long. It started with a recruiter phone call, then a video meeting with the hiring manager, and ended with a 3.5-hour interview with 5 managers. I didn't get a sense of the salary or the company vibe until the last interview. Honestly, I should have left after the first manager, the place seemed unpleasant and a few employees made that clear. It gave me a real look at the company, though. They have old-fashioned ideas, are super understaffed, and their employees are overworked. I wish the earlier interviews had been more informative so I wouldn't have wasted my time on the long final one. I listened to everyone since I was already there, but I would never work there. Working 70 hours a week in a cold environment with no flexibility isn't for me. Next.
