Data Scientist
The interview process involves a 30-minute HR interview, followed by a 1-hour interview with the hiring manager. After that, there are four final interviews, each lasting one hour: one DS challenge, one SQL interview, one case study, and one behavioral interview. This process is quite bureaucratic and hasn't changed in years. They tend to ask questions that aren't very relevant to a specific field or domain, and you shouldn't expect in-depth DS discussions. The interviews are straightforward for anyone familiar with the definitions and concepts in the field.
- Tell me about your previous experience, focusing on small details.
- What is the time complexity of reading from a dictionary?
- Is it possible for the variance of a binomial distribution to be zero?
Data Scientist
I applied online and had a phone interview with a Sr Data Scientist. They asked a lot of quick ML questions about text, recommendation systems, and images. Then, I did an ML case study about predicting a listing price with some limits. After a week, I went to an onsite interview in Boston, MA, which had three rounds: two were for case study/ML/DL discussions, and one was a coding round.
- Questions about SEM?
- Questions about Recommendation systems?
- Questions about ranking algorithms?
Data Scientist
There were two rounds. The first was a technical interview where a business case was given and I had to provide a viable solution. The interviewer was checking my thought process and whether my logic made sense. The second was an onsite interview with coding questions on a whiteboard and interviews with team members to check my behavioral skills.
- Can you explain linear regression in simple terms?
- Could you tell me why we use PCA?
