Human Resources
Coming from a recruitment background myself I am always keen to see how other companies hold an interview process. I am a firm believer that an interview is a two-way process - the candidate also needs to ask questions and see if this role/ company is right for them! I applied directly to the Recruitment Manager and we had soon arranged a suitable time for us to both speak initially over the phone. This was a relaxed call where we discussed my experience, what I am looking for in a new role, and what I would expect if I was successful (how the team currently works, daily challenges/ perks to the role) I was then invited in for a face to face interview with 2 managers, where they were flexible with meeting me after work in order for me to work this around my other role at the time. The interview (for me) was relaxed, we discussed my background again but in more detail, asked specific questions in regards to how I would tackle certain situations but nothing too formal. This was followed by a second stage interview with the same managers where this stage was more of a recap to the first interview. Overall I thought the interview process was very smooth, and a good reflection of how the recruitment team is changing and progressing. I was quickly offered the position, and they were very accommodating for my start date.
- How would you handle a specific situation, and have you faced anything similar in your past or current job?
- What are your aspirations for a new role?
Human Resources Analyst
This was a two-stage interview. The first stage was with the Team Manager and a technical liaison, where we discussed the role's requirements and my experience through competency-based questions. We also talked about my approach to the role, including its scope and growth. Some questions touched on my technical abilities. The second stage was with the Department Manager and a Recruiter. This stage involved two practical skills tests focusing on intermediate-level Excel. We also had more discussions about the team and department's position in the business, as well as the overall team and company culture to see if I'd be a good fit.
- What's your process if a stakeholder asks for a report at 5 PM on a Friday?
Advertising Executive
Recruiters found my CV online and set up an interview with Trinity Mirror for the next week. The interview was as expected, asking typical questions. The interviewers were friendly, making the process less stressful. I recommend applying to Trinity Mirror; though I didn't get the job (the other finalist had more experience), they said they'd keep me in mind for future roles and were genuinely nice people who made the process easy. I saw it as great interview practice.
- Can you tell me what you understand about this position?
Brand Executive
Got an email saying I was unsuccessful, then one saying I was successful, then unsuccessful again. The interview questions were really vague, leading to a presentation that was also very vague. I did everything they asked with smiles and handshakes, and they said I'd hear back soon. A month passed, so I had to email them. They turned me down and then ignored my request for feedback. I'm happy where I am now and I know what kind of employer they are.
- Could you share your favorite marketing strategy example?
