Contacted over a month after applying, I was invited to two 45-minute interviews scheduled for less than a week later. The staff was great, and I felt it was a good fit. However, after the interviews, I waited 3-4 weeks for a response despite following up. Given the delay and lack of communication, I accepted another offer. They later responded, saying I was a strong candidate, indicating they intended to move me forward. The team seems great, but the interview timeline and lack of responsiveness were significant drawbacks.

Behavioral Presentation

They prefer to hire internally, but only if they genuinely like the candidate. It's important to be friendly with the interviewers, otherwise, they might give the role to someone else already in the organization. The interview process I went through had two main stages. First, there was an HR interview before meeting the actual hiring managers. You really need to charm them to show you're easy to work with. I had three interviews in total because they moved me to the next round with another internal applicant. I didn't feel entirely comfortable with that, but my final interview was with a very nice older woman who seemed to like my charm more than the others.

The interview process at a Career and Life Design Center can differ based on the exact role and how the institution operates. You might get questions that test your specific skills, depending on the job. For example, if you're a career counselor, they might ask about career development theories, assessment tools, and advising methods. For event coordinators, expect questions about planning events, handling logistics, and marketing them. If the role involves employer relations, they'll likely ask about reaching out to employers and building those connections.

So the first interview was like a group interview, a round-table with like 6+ people and they were from different departments. Each person got to ask a question and then I answered it. It wasn't super structured who asked next but they gave me plenty of time to answer. After that, they said I'd hear from the board if I moved on. I never heard back for like 4-5 months until I got an email saying I wasn't moving forward.
