Trillium Trading Trader Interview Questions

Went through 3 rounds for this job, 2 online and a final one in person. Honestly, this final round was pretty bad, and I'd tell people to avoid this process. I had two good interviews with Cary and Ben, and then got invited to a final round. They let me choose between in-person or online. Since I was looking for my first full-time job, I figured going in person would be a good move, especially since the first two interviews went so well. They didn't offer to cover travel or lodging, so I paid for my own flight and hotel to go interview there. When I arrived, it seemed like they weren't expecting me. The office was kind of a mess, dark, and not really inviting. After a pretty forgettable chat with two of the traders, they mentioned, 'Yeah, we don't really hire full-time people often, mostly just interns.' Turns out, I was actually interviewing for a full-time role, so basically, they told me during the interview that I wasted my time and money coming down. All in all, I think it's an okay job for junior traders, especially interns. But I'd be super careful about starting your career here. This job has a starting base pay of 60k, and that disappears after two years. So, you either prove your worth or move on from trading. Some folks are cut out for it, but know that at least half the traders here don't make it. Also, if you're into quant stuff, steer clear. A sophomore year internship would be good, but they don't do anything quant from what I gathered. I really believe that if you're not using coding, AI, Machine learning, etc., you're going to fall behind in the future. Make it a point to learn and use coding and AI if you want to succeed as a trader.

The interview process was a positive experience. A voucher was provided to cover flight costs to visit the office in Miami. The interview included some basic technical questions, but primarily focused on Trillium, your background, and your interest in Trillium.

In the first round, you'll meet the head of hiring for about 30 minutes. He's really nice and will ask about you and why you want to be a trader. You'll need to know what's happening in the markets. Then there are two tests with 16 questions each, one with a 2-minute time limit and another with a 5-minute limit. The questions themselves are simple, but it's to test how you handle pressure. The second round involves a completely qualitative chat with the head trader. After that, I spoke with a trader for 20-30 minutes. I liked the whole process; everyone at trillium is genuinely friendly and straightforward.
