First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Trident Transport.
Business Development Representative
The interview process was really good and everyone was super nice and easy to talk to. They seemed genuinely interested in getting to know me as a person. There were 3 rounds in total, and I spoke with different people in each round. I'd definitely recommend this interview process.
- Why are you interested in working at Trident?
Capacity Sales Representative
Two managers in charge of Capacity had me come into the boardroom for the interview. They started with some getting-to-know-you questions like how long I've lived here, about myself and hobbies, and where I'm from. Then they asked about my Freight Sales and Logistics experience. I didn't have much, but I talked about related industries I've worked in. They highlighted skills useful for the job like email management, being quick, handling lots of inbound and outbound calls for sales/leads, learning new software similar to spreadsheets, analyzing data, managing money/prices, and making sales calls. They stressed that a strong drive to make money and earn commission, despite needing to check emails and sometimes take calls after hours, is essential. The role involves selling load shipments, finding carriers for contracts, and then tracking those shipments across the country for pickup and delivery. Being friendly to everyone – interviewers, customers, sales reps, ops, management, and carriers/drivers – is crucial. A friendly personality that's ready to work, takes responsibility for loads, and can build a large social network is needed to succeed by convincing customers to pay more and carriers to accept less, increasing margins and booked loads. Sometimes, you'll have to cover loads for Trident with bad margins, meaning less profit. You still need to service these loads and the people involved!
- Can you tell me about your experience in sales, and specifically with freight and logistics, including dispatching, tracking, emails, and phone calls?
- What is your experience using industry applications and software?
- How have you built a social network and book of business with clients to encourage repeat bookings?
Human Resources
I had a pretty in-depth interview that lasted about an hour. They brought in multiple members of their team to meet me, which made me feel like it was a done deal. However, they then told me I was overqualified and would be unhappy with the pay, suggesting I should be a broker instead.
- Familiarity with Excel?
Account Manager
This was one of the best and smoothest interview processes I've experienced. It was really in-depth and thorough in explaining the job and what the responsibilities are.
- Can you tell me about yourself and explain why you are the best fit for this role?
