I was messaged on LinkedIn for a quick 15-minute virtual chat about a role, but it turned out to be a full interview. I went with it because I didn't want to seem inflexible. I think I did okay, but when I asked for more time to prepare, they ghosted me. It was also annoying that the job title had changed by the time of the call. It's tough to prepare when the role keeps changing. The hiring process didn't match the company's supposed good culture.

I was referred by someone at TribalScale and went through three interviews over about a month and a half. First was an HR chat on Skype for about 20 minutes where we covered my background. Then, a technical interview on CollabEdit where I was asked two coding questions and told to be vocal. That took about 40 minutes. Finally, I spoke with the VP of Engineering, first for 10 minutes on video, then 30 minutes on the phone, discussing my past projects and agile methodologies. They then told me I was welcomed to the team. However, after another week and a half, I got an email saying I was rejected with no clear reason. The whole process took about two months and felt like a letdown, especially after they said I was in.

Got contacted by an HR person for a quick 15 minute call where we talked about my past experience and why I want to work for the company. Then I had a second interview with the manager the next week. It felt more like a casual chat about when I could start and more about the company. They said they'd love to have me and just needed to confirm some things. I thought I had the job but then didn't hear back for a week. I followed up twice with HR before they told me they went with someone else. In my opinion, this wasn't handled professionally. They shouldn't have said anything if they weren't sure about hiring me.

So, the interview process was a little different. First, I had a call with one of the company's Founders, which was pretty great. Then, there was about an hour-long phone interview. The final interview was on-site and also about an hour, and it included a pairing session. There were some communication hiccups, but it wasn't a big deal since I always got a response when I followed up. The pairing interview was fun, and I came away from the whole thing thinking they have a really solid and skilled team.
