I applied online via Indeed.com and about a week later got a call for a phone screen. When I mentioned researching the company, the interviewer got defensive and brought up negative reviews. About another week passed, and then I had an in-person interview, even though it was during the pandemic. Nobody in the office was masked, and they didn't seem to care about COVID safety. The interviewer also seemed unsure about the job's actual duties. I never heard back, but honestly, I wouldn't have wanted to work in a place that wasn't prioritizing safety.

First, they really dug into my resume, giving me some honest feedback on my life choices. Then came the big stuff: could I handle a 50lb ladder? Also, asked if I do drugs and what kind, if I'm scared of tight spots, if spiders freak me out, and if people scare me.

The interview was pretty straightforward. They sent over a meeting invite and had some questions ready for me. Everyone was friendly and it felt more like a chat. I got to ask my own questions too, to see if it was a good fit.

I met a technician through a relative and got the contact info for his branch. I called and was invited in the next day to speak with a supervisor who laid out the job details. It seemed like a sure thing if I wanted it.
