First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Tri-County Technical College.
Marketing Coordinator
It was with the hiring committee, which can include people from different departments you might collaborate with, along with your direct manager and the team. The whole thing was about an hour. They also did a background check and contacted references. You'll also need to provide an original copy of your transcript.
- Can you tell us who our customers are?
Professor
I had a friendly chat with the Dean. She walked me through the course materials and asked me some questions about my background and how I approach education. She also inquired about my prior teaching roles and whether I could teach at various locations.
- Can you tell me about your teaching experience?
Fiscal Technician
Got a call from HR about ten days after the job posting closed. The interview was about three weeks after closing. A committee did all the hiring and interviewing. I was interviewed by 5 people in a conference room. The direct supervisor led the team and each person was assigned questions to ask. It was formal, but the team was very inviting and put me at ease quickly.
- In your opinion, how can this role affect the student population on campus?
Manager
The first interview was over the phone, and it was a round table style. I think they used the same questions for everyone, but I'm not sure. The call was ten minutes late, and not everyone on the committee had arrived by the time we finished introductions. The group included the head of the department and a few other staff members. They asked pretty standard interview questions like 'Tell us about a time when...' and 'How did you handle a mistake you found?'. The committee seemed a bit nervous and stiff at first, but they loosened up as the hour went on, so I guess I was one of the first people they interviewed. At the end, the HR person said they'd call me the next week, regardless of the outcome. I never got a call or a response to my follow-up emails.
- What are the best qualities you look for in a Manager?
