First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Tredence.
Data Engineer
Round 1 was a technical interview. They started by asking me to go through my resume. Then, I was asked some basic questions about database schema and tables, and also about the databases in my projects. After that, I was given medium SQL queries to solve, and the data was provided for me to paste into Excel. The round ended with the interviewer explaining the difference between a data engineer and a data scientist and asking me how ETL relates to that explanation. Round 2 was also a technical interview. I explained my projects, and the interviewer mostly asked questions about them. We also had a general conversation where he told me about himself, asked about me, and how I managed to find the time to build projects. Round 3 was an HR interview and only lasted for 10 minutes. The interviewer asked me why I was interested in tredance and what my goals are. He also told me about the on-boarding process.
- Could you write some SQL queries on a table, specifically for sum, maximum sales, and comparing dates?
- Write SQL queries on a table for sum, maximum sales, and comparing dates.
Data Engineer
So, first up was a quick HR chat to make sure we were on the same page about the role and my availability. Then I had a technical interview where we dove into SQL stuff and some Python data processing challenges. The last part was a behavioral interview, they used the STAR method to ask about how I work with others, tackle problems, and take responsibility for my work. They were really good about letting me know what to expect at each step, and the whole thing felt pretty efficient and considerate of my time.
- The interview process began with an initial HR screening to confirm role alignment and availability.
- This was followed by a technical round focusing on SQL queries and Python data processing scenarios.
- The final round was behavioral, using STAR-style questions to evaluate team collaboration, problem-solving, and ownership.
Data Engineer
The interview process involved two technical rounds. The first was conducted virtually, and the second took place face-to-face in the office. This was followed by a round with the Director. The entire process was completed within a week. I suspect that due to my notice period, I didn't get the opportunity.
- Questions about optimizing Spark.
- Basic data structure and algorithm questions, such as checking for a palindrome.
- Questions involving writing SQL code.
