First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Travis Credit Union.

The process involved a lot of waiting between stages, and after meeting the whole team and the VP, I was ultimately rejected. The interviews covered past experience, preferred work settings, and collaboration skills.
- Can you elaborate on your past work experience?
- What kind of work environment do you thrive in?
- How do you contribute to a team?
Technical Writer
I applied online and the HR person called me in for an interview. First I spoke with HR about my background, then I met with two people from IT to talk about my experience with process documentation. After that, they asked me to create a procedure and a network diagram, which I worked hard on and submitted the next business day. If I got the job, they would want me to do a drug screen and background check, and make sure my Travis accounts were okay. About a month went by, and they posted the job opening again. They didn't get back to me at all after the interview, so I felt like it was a waste of my time and they were just trying to get free consulting work. They first listed the job as full-time, then a week later changed it to temporary.
- Can you explain your approach to documenting a process?
Business Intelligence Analyst
The interview process was straightforward. I first had a screening call with the recruiter, where we discussed my background and availability. The recruiter explained that the next step would be a 30–45 minute interview with the hiring manager. According to the recruiter, the hiring manager will focus more on technical topics, including tools and analytical experience. Overall, the process was clear and well-communicated.
- Do you have experience with Tableau?
- Did you use Tableau in your recent lab or projects?
- Can you describe your ideal work environment, especially regarding inclusivity and collaboration?
Software Developer
I had my first contact with a recruiter and the second with the hiring manager. It wasn't a technical interview at all. After the interview, the hiring manager mentioned I'd hear back from the recruiter, but I never did. This wasn't really a shocker since it felt like we wouldn't be a good fit for the team, but it would've been nice of the recruiter to at least send a standard message saying they went with someone else.
- Can you tell me about your experience with [some technology]?
