First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at TravelBank.
Technical Writer
So the interview was like five or six rounds, you know, meeting with different people. Some were one-on-one, and some were with a group, like a panel. They also had me do some live writing stuff to see how I write, like making an outline for a document.
- What's your process for rewriting something that's already been published?
Implementation Specialist
Recruiter reached out via LinkedIn about the role. My first interview was a 30-min call with the recruiter, which was great and made me excited. They told me there would be 4 more interviews: one with an Implementation Specialist, one with the Director of Operations, and a final presentation. I agreed. After the Director of Operations interview, there was an unexpected meeting with a C-level executive. I thought this was excessive for a mid-senior role, but I went ahead with it since I had come so far. The C-level chat was also pleasant. The final step was a presentation. I got feedback that they liked the presentation and my explanation, but wanted to see more of the explanation in the slides, which was difficult given I didn't know the company's software in detail. No one followed up to say I didn't get the job, even after 4 weeks of interviews and a whole weekend spent on the presentation. It's unclear why 6 interviews were needed to determine I wasn't a good fit, but it might reflect how the company operates.

Product Manager
Before my interview, I was excited to read that the recruiter valued company culture, which is important to me. During our call, I asked her to share a time when she's implemented employee feedback into the work culture. She didn't have one. Her response was that she was let go during the pandemic and they hired her back later. After that question, she appeared to have a vendetta against me. She criticized my resume and appeared to lack patience speaking to me. It was the first time I did not send a thank you note after an interview.

Full Stack Engineer
The interview felt pretty chill, more like a conversation than a formal interrogation. The person interviewing me actually started by asking if I had any questions, which was a nice way to break the ice and build some rapport. I thought that was pretty cool, and it definitely helped me relax. I wasn't expecting to ask questions first, so I saved mine for the end after they were done with their questions. So, the flow was: Greeting, Interviewee's questions (I decided to do this later), Interviewer's questions, Discussion about the next steps in the process, My questions, and then a Farewell.
- What prompted your departure from your last role?
- Could you describe your experience at your prior place of employment?
- Would you be willing to acquire knowledge in X?
