I went through the interview process for an SDET position. Unfortunately, all three of us who made it to the final round were not hired. The feedback was that we all struggled with the coding problem, which was confusing because I solved it very quickly. My recruiter later explained that the company suspected some form of cheating, leading them to reject all finalists. I found this approach unfair and indicative of a flawed interview system. Although the recruiter was excellent – responsive and professional – I feel like I might have avoided a negative experience. The way this situation was handled is concerning. I invested two weeks in this process and wanted to share my experience to help others considering applying.

It was an easy process. I applied for the job and didn't get it, but it was a good process and very clear. They look professional even though I wasn't picked. I recommend it to other people. Maybe next time. At least the process was clear.

Technical Behavioral

I was messaged by a recruiter on LinkedIn, then had a screening call. After that, I got a technical home test, which I did and think I did a good job on. About a week later, I asked the recruiter for an update on my test. Turns out, my test wasn't reviewed because they had other candidates already in the process. I spent four hours of my own time on this unpaid test and heard nothing back from the recruiter. This shows how the company treats applicants, and it's like the negative Glassdoor reviews about company culture. Also, no automated rejection email, so no real closing to the application. I really wouldn't recommend spending your personal time on a test that might not even be looked at, and without even an automated rejection email.

Technical Coding

Had a phone screen where they asked some basic technical questions. After that, I went in person for another interview which involved an interesting algorithmic challenge. The goal was to see how I debug and QA logic I'm not familiar with, even though the domain was one I knew.

Confirmed questions2 questions
  • Basic technical questions were asked.
  • There was an interesting algorithmic challenge to demonstrate my ability to debug and QA logic that is unfamiliar to me, but within a domain I understand.
