I found the job on LinkedIn and quickly spoke with the recruiter. They set up the interview with the regional manager for the following week. There were only a couple of actual interview questions; most of the time was spent discussing the job role, scheduling, and expectations.

Had an initial virtual chat with a contract ID that went well. Then I was called in for an in-person meeting. Met with a SME first, who was great, and we really clicked. I felt I could really help her with my Instructional Design skills and build courseware for them, matching her needs based on the job description. Next, I met with the CIO. She made me feel like I wasn't the right fit for what SHE needed. The job description mentioned specific software, but the CIO seemed more focused on AR/VR and supply chain training, which wasn't in the description. I talked about my course development experience and using the listed software, but she said they weren't using that software and were moving towards AR/VR. I guess I missed that in the job description. The CIO also seemed distracted, looking at her phone and laptop while I was talking about my experience and what I could bring to the role. Apparently, they changed the job description without telling the recruiters or candidates.

  • Can you start by telling me about yourself?

I saw the HR Specialist role posted on LinkedIn, applied on their site, and the recruiter contacted me that same week to set up a screening call. After that, I went onsite for a 1x1 with the manager and a group interview with two senior management folks. I thought it was neat they made time for me. The recruiter called me the next week with an offer. It was pretty fast and easy overall!

First, there was a phone interview. After that, I had a 3-hour in-person interview. Finally, I had discussions with the recruiter and an executive. They didn't ask a lot of technical questions, mostly just went over my resume. The people were nice and it felt pretty relaxed.
