First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Tradeshift.
DevOps Engineer
So first there was like an intro with HR/recruiter. They asked about my salary expectations and we agreed on a range, then we proceeded with the interviews. The first technical round was a discussion on stuff like Docker, Kubernetes, and my past projects. The second technical interview was a deeper dive into Kubernetes, networking, and automated deployments. They gave positive feedback and I was expecting an offer, but then they tried to renegotiate my salary, saying it was too high even though we'd already discussed it. After waiting a month, no offer came. Honestly, felt like a waste of time.

- What are the methods for achieving vertical scaling in Kubernetes?
Director
The interview process was really long, disorganized, and unstructured, and it ended up being unsatisfactory and inconsistent. The interviewers didn't respect my time, I was ghosted at the end, and it felt like the business didn't care about the role. The responses to my Glassdoor reviews were unconvincing, making me think the company won't change with the current execs.
- What motivates you in your work?
Software Engineer
I sent in my application online and then had a chat with a recruiter a couple days later. They gave me a ton of info and a really deep dive into what they were looking for and all the stuff they have going on. After that, I talked to the director who went over my past projects and some of my experience. I was super into it and could totally picture myself there. But then, less than 24 hours later, they told me they didn't want me to join. The recruiter actually called me to give me feedback, which I thought was pretty unusual compared to my other experiences. I really wish all companies were as quick and helpful with their process.

Security Analyst
I submitted my application online and got contacted by a recruiter pretty fast. They set me up with a phone screen with HR, which went fine. After that, I had another call with the SVP of Engineering, and that seemed to go pretty well too. A few days later, they invited me for an onsite interview with the SVP and the director I'd be working under. Getting to the office was a bit of a hassle, and parking was super expensive. I got there a bit early, so I just walked around the area for a bit. The front desk person was nice and told me to wait in the lobby, where there was a guy hanging out with his dog. The recruiter then came to get me and led me to the conference room. The director I'd report to came in, and that's when things got weird. He apologized for not reading my resume because he was on vacation and busy. Seriously? I thought about leaving, but decided to stick it out. He asked me questions while looking over my shoulder into the hall, maybe he was bored? It really threw me off. Then he asked questions that didn't even match the job posting, maybe he didn't read that either? We wrapped up, and I knew it was a waste of my time. It felt like he was trying to find reasons to reject me. The SVP came in, we chatted briefly, and that was it. I left wondering why they even called me in for an onsite. The next morning, the recruiter emailed to say they weren't moving forward.
- Some scenario based questions and some technical questions were asked.
