It was a multi-stage interview process where each interviewer was knowledgeable. The interview was really upto the mark. There were 3 stages in total and I got rejected at the last stage, having passed the first two. The first stage was an HR call, followed by an assignment and a senior product manager interview. I was rejected in the final product manager interview because I come from a B2C background and the company is B2B, so I probably wasn't a culture fit.

Case

I interviewed for a PM role at Tracxn and they gave me a case study assignment. I worked really hard on it, putting in a lot of research, time, and energy. Unfortunately, I didn't get through. I appreciate the opportunity and the learning, but I wasn't given any feedback or reason for the rejection. I asked for feedback to better understand the company's goals and expectations, which would help me prepare for future roles at Tracxn, but still no response or reason was given, citing the integrity of the hiring process. I understand companies give opportunities, but they should also be accountable to candidates and provide some reason to complete the hiring loop. Candidates who go through multiple rounds and work on assignments put in a lot of hard work and dedication. At least fair feedback or a reason is the bare minimum after a couple of rounds. If a candidate rejects an offer, a full reason is demanded, but the same isn't done the other way around. Maybe it's too much to ask, but companies with great culture like Swiggy, Uber, and Microsoft are able to attract and retain top talent for a reason.

It was a 5 step process: First, an introduction call to assess the role and JD. Then, an assignment round where I had to build a signup workflow, which was intricate with edge cases, reasoning, and wireframes. This was followed by a discussion on the assignment. Next was a Product Sense round with a Product Design question: How would you build an elevator for the blind? Finally, a Fitment round discussing previous orgs, reasonings, mindset, and team compatibility.

  • Can you discuss the signup workflow assignment you completed, including your thought process on edge cases, reasoning, and wireframes?
  • Let's discuss the case study you presented.
