This was posted as an Entry Level Channel Marketing role on LinkedIn, asking for 1-3 years of experience. I have 8 years and met all the qualifications. My first call was with the Talent Recruiter, who mentioned they hadn't found success with other candidates and I'd be the last one they interviewed. If I wasn't a fit, they'd reassess. The process moved fast over 2.5 weeks, involving interviews with 5 people, the last being a C-level exec. The final interview focused on organizational ROI failures and the need to change direction. I offered suggestions for client engagement strategies they weren't using. The exec took notes, and at the 30-minute mark, he had to go. He expressed interest in continuing the conversation and potentially involving his direct reports I'd already met. I followed up with a Thank You email, including a mock-up program with more engagement ideas for our 'To Be Continued' talk. After a week, I checked in with the Recruiter and was told they wanted someone with more experience. This should have been identified much earlier, before the final C-level interview, unless someone was trying to prevent the hire. A week later, the job is still posted online.

HR called me to set up a phone interview for the next morning. We talked for about 35 minutes. She went over my resume and asked me questions. She also gave me a good overview of the company, the role, and their products. She explained the whole interview process and gave me some materials to prepare for the in-person interview. I then interviewed with the hiring manager. It was encouraging to hear how valuable I could be to the sales team. After that, I had a panel interview. The HR rep told me what to expect, who would be on the panel, and suggested I look them up on LinkedIn to understand their roles. The whole process from the first contact took less than two weeks.

Behavioral Presentation

The interview process at Weaver was quite something. First, the recruiter really grills you on your sales background and even challenges your resume. What's wild is this recruiter didn't even sell telecommunications products themselves. They mentioned a role play, but it felt more like a test to see if you could sell using the 'Dunn strategy'. Also, heads up, TPX checks with your previous employer while you're still employed, which feels like a conflict of interest. If you have a LinkedIn profile, maybe hide it. TPX has a high sales turnover and isn't exactly known for being picky in the Plano area.

It started with a getting to know you chat. Then we dove into technical stuff related to the application, like understanding objects, GDC programming, identifying customers, and past experiences with input/output issues. Finally, there were some behavioral questions about challenges and how I handled them, teamwork, work ethic, data integrity, and delivery. The interview wrapped up with a discussion on career goals and salary expectations.
