Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Toyota Motor Corporation.
Buyer
I talked with 2 managers. They were both nice and rephrased questions to sound harder, but I could still use my prepared answers. There were 3 STAR method questions and some small questions like: "Are you 18 and above?", "Do you require sponsorship now or in the future?".
- Can you share an instance where you went above and beyond to ensure customer satisfaction?
- Describe a situation where you opted against the established process to implement a new system.
- Tell me about a time you had to work with someone whose work standards were lower than yours.
Buyer
Had three interviews total, one with HR and then up to the Head of Director General. Questions covered academic background, procurement, automotive markets, and some logic/math quizzes. They also asked behavioral questions like 'what was your greatest failure?' and 'biggest challenge faced?'.
- What are the main issues facing the automotive industry right now?
- How would you assess an RFQ?
- Could you describe your academic background?
Buyer
The interview process was very direct. They asked some technical questions related to the buyer position and some questions about Toyota. The recruiter mentioned I was overqualified, but I suspect that was an excuse since I wasn't selected for the senior positions either.
- Can you tell me why you are interested in Toyota?
- What information do you have about Toyota?
