First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Toyota Motor Corporation.
Customer Service Representative
Sent my application online and got a response in about 9 days. Had a phone interview, but the HR Manager was running late by 5 minutes. After the call, I was supposed to schedule a one-on-one for later that week. The HR Manager said I'd get an email with a confirmation and an application to bring. Two days later, still nothing. I had to call to get them to send it. The interview itself went fine, I thought. With over 30 years of experience, including 11 in the car business, I figured I was a good fit. But I got an email saying they chose other candidates. Honestly, based on this, I don't think they're really looking for the best people.
- Can you share an instance from your past that fits this description?
- Give me an example of a time you dealt with a challenging customer.
Customer Service Representative
I started with an initial phone interview with the recruiter. Then, I was invited for a one-on-one interview, where I was told I'd be meeting with both the team leader and department manager. The team leader asked me some behavioral questions using the 'star' method. After that, the department manager wasn't available to meet, so I was told I'd hear back by the following Friday about the next steps. I called them afterwards and was informed that Toyota wouldn't be proceeding with my application. When I asked for feedback, they told me I didn't do well on the behavioral part and that other candidates were a better fit.
- Can you tell me about a time you made a mistake and how you fixed it?
Customer Service Representative
I applied on Saturday night and heard back on Monday. I had my phone interview on Tuesday and passed it. Then I had an in-person interview on Wednesday with two center supervisors. They talked about the company and asked me questions from a packet. I got a call with an offer three hours later.
- Can you describe a situation where you couldn't agree with a customer and how you managed it?
