First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Towson University.
Campus Recreation Staff
For this campus recreation role, they asked about my motivation to join Towson Campus Recreation and how I'd fit into the team. They also wanted to hear about a time I gave great customer service and how I made that person feel valued. Since the job can be hectic, they asked how I manage stress and stay organized during busy times or unexpected issues. Finally, they asked how I'd handle conflicts between people to keep things safe and friendly.
- Can you share an experience of working in a team, detailing your role and the factors contributing to the team's success?
Administrative Assistant
The interview process was a great experience, and I felt welcomed. I got a tour of the campus and found the hiring manager to be very open and transparent. Finding parking was simple, and I had no trouble locating the interview at the college of fine arts building.
- What sparked your interest in this role?
Assistant Professor
Standard interview process for this kind of role. They ask about research, teaching, and DEI. The search committee has a clear idea of who they want. But the hiring process seems to be taking forever.
- Can you discuss your teaching experience and approach to course design?
- How do you approach Inclusion and Diversity in your work?

Student Philanthropy Coordinator
The interview process seemed okay at first, but the interviewer came across as pretentious. When I asked for clarification on questions very specific to this role, she wouldn't provide any. She also checked if I was a donor to my alma mater. Upon seeing I wasn't on the donor list, she decided I wasn't fit for the job, stating, 'how was I supposed to effectively raise money for the university (from students...which is stupid anyway) when I myself did not contribute to my own as an alumna.' This was the feedback I received after not getting an offer. She gave me no chance to explain why I had no extra funds, how I gave back as volunteer staff for a campus ministry, and instead sneakily looked me up and made her decision. She was incredibly arrogant.
- Can you provide an instance of student engagement?
