Operations Manager
It was a positive experience, though a bit unconventional. The first step was a nice phone chat with HR, where I was asked many good questions about my work background and company culture. Then, all the remaining three interviews happened back-to-back in one afternoon at their main office. I wasn't told beforehand there would be multiple interviews. The interviewers included people from my potential department, but also folks from completely different departments. While they offered some cool insights into the company vibe, they couldn't really answer my role-specific questions or ask me relevant ones.
- In a scenario requiring event cancellation or postponement due to adverse weather or a disaster, what would be your approach?
Operations Manager
The online application was really long but thorough, which probably weeds out people not willing to put in the time. The writing sample was good because it was specific to the role. The interview part wasn't as great. About 3-4 days after applying online, I got an email for a video interview. It wasn't live, but recorded questions answered via video on an online service. It felt impersonal, and I don't think it's a good way to gauge customer-focused candidates. I even got cut off on one question, but I was still invited to a group interview. They were vague about whether it was a group of employees interviewing us or a group of candidates being interviewed together. It was the latter, with 8 candidates and about 1.5 interviewers. The in-person group interview was also impersonal, with interviewers seeming uninterested. One interviewer even left mid-session without explanation. The scenarios were hard to answer without knowing TM's policies. The whole group interview for 8 people lasted only 20-30 minutes, which is too short to properly assess candidates. They asked 2-3 situation questions total. I will say TM was fast, though. I heard back within 3 days of applying, got the group interview invite about 3 days after the video interview, and received the rejection 2 days after the group interview.
- How would you prioritize these three urgent situations that arise simultaneously during an event: a participant with a broken leg, a missing child, or a group of six unhappy participants?
Operations Manager
Had a Zoom meeting but the connection was bad. I couldn't hear the interviewer and it got cut short. This was a while back, so the tech has probably gotten better since then. The interviewer seemed nice.
