The interview process did a good job of explaining the job function, but not necessarily the behaviors you'd see. Although this was better covered in training. I did enjoy my interview, training, and position.

Behavioral Technical Case

I put my resume on indeed.com and Total Spectrum reached out to me directly. I said I was interested and we scheduled a short phone interview (about 9 minutes) to discuss my availability and my experience with kids, especially autistic children. It went well, so we set up another interview via Google Duo. This one was about 15 minutes and delved deeper into my experience with children, including some situational questions. Both interviewers were really nice.

Behavioral

I got an email after applying and they set up a google hangouts interview. We talked about my experience with kids and autism. The questions weren't very specific and it didn't feel super formal, like the HR person was at her house. She was nice and seemed to listen though. The interview was short, like 10-15 mins, and then I got the job offer right away. It felt a bit unprofessional, like they'd hire anyone with some kid experience. Then I just got the paperwork by email and that was it.

Confirmed questions2 questions
  • Can you tell me about your experience working with individuals with autism?
  • What would be your approach if a child started having a tantrum during a session?

Behavioral Technical

The interview started with a lot of behavioral questions. I think if you get the interview, you likely already fit the job description. They asked about my experiences, the usual questions. Then, they asked hypothetical questions about what I would do in different situations, like if a child got into a fight and climbed a tall structure when angry. They asked a few situational questions to see how prepared I am.

Confirmed questions5 questions
  • Can you share your experience working with children or as a behavior technician?
  • What is your background working with children or as a behavior tech?
  • Tell me about any experience you have working with children.
