First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Total Merchant Services.
Care Call Person
They made me wait 25 minutes, then the interview happened. They asked me some strange questions about cooking, and then about taking calls, especially angry calls, and what I would do in those situations. It was a lot of step-by-step questions, but the vibe was friendly. I was excited to start and I got the offer.
- The question asked was about cooking, and what steps you would take to make a meal.
Manager of Financial Analysis
I applied online, and then the hiring manager emailed me a week or two later. We set up a phone call for the next week. During the call, I went over my resume and explained any gaps and why I left past jobs. The HM seemed uninterested once they knew I wasn't working at the moment. Also, it felt like the HM asked salary questions just to get rid of applicants quickly. The job itself seemed to be more about tactical sales commission processing, not sales operations and analytics as described in the ad. I didn't hear back or get a formal rejection after the phone interview.
- What was your most recent salary?
- What is the reason you are currently working?
- Tell me about your management experience.
Representative
So I was already working as a temp for 3 months and basically doing the job, and then they made me permanent. Looking back, the interview was just a formality, because in those 3 months I was doing better than people who had been there over a year. I met with the department supervisor first, then the department manager. So that was 2 interviews, both that week. I signed the employment papers the next Monday.
- Can you describe a situation where you went above and beyond to satisfy a customer?
- What is something that you find particularly noteworthy?
- Tell me about a time you faced a challenge.
Customer Service Representative
The interview process involved personality questions, specifically 'tell me about a time when' type questions. They focused on culture and ensuring you'd be a good fit. I heard you usually interview with 2 supervisors, but I interviewed with just 1. I was called back a week later with an offer.
- Describe a situation where you had a disagreement with a coworker or supervisor, and explain how you resolved it.
